Jackie, at the front desk, gave us suggests for what to do during the day. Personally, we had no problems with service. I read through all the reviews, both positive and negative before we pulled the trigger on the weekend. My fiancee and I plan on coming back for our honeymoon. I gave it a 4 because of the tilapia and because the grout in the bathroom could have been a little more pristine but would highly reccommend this lodge to everyone.I went to the Gateway lodge for the Bed and Brew weekend. Would love to return for more than one night and try their spa and get to know the area. The serving staff are all very welcoming and cheerful. My husband really enjoyed his pork chop though and the flourless chocolate cake was very good.

The tilapia with shrimp was just awful, fish tasted old and was overcooked and all was overwhelmed by garlic with very little other flavor.

The one complaint I do have is that I had the worst meal for dinner. But after I got over the initial shock and in touch with the 15 year old at home it was nice to be able to leave the smart phone alone. The one thing that was not expected was the no cell service and internet could only be picked up in the Great Room. All in all I thought the $225 we payed for the night was well worth it. An outstanding breakfast comes with the price of the room. Coffee, tea and fruit between 7 and 9 am. Coffee, tea, cheeses and fruit late afternoon and evening in the Great Room. It had a private porch, a chakoozie, a gas fireplace and large bathroom. We got a tour of the hotel as we were walked to our very spacious room. The Gateway is about 20 minutes North of Interstate 80 at the Clarion exit. The previous year we had just stopped in Clarion, Pa at one of the myriad hotels and it was just plain depressing, overpriced and wishing we had driven straight through. We decided to stay here at a midway point We were driving home after dropping off our son for school in the Chicago area. The tilapia with shrimp was just awful, fish tasted old and was overcooked.
